THE MAGIC OF IT ALL: THE STORY OF STRAWBS
World Premiere + Q&A
In 2022, Dave Cousins, frontman of British folk-prog pioneers Strawbs and Blue Weaver, travelled to Cape Town for what was intended to be a simple recording session. Instead, facing cancer, he delayed treatment and endured eight months of isolation to complete his swansong, The Magic of It All, with a studio band of leading South African musicians. The documentary featuring Strawbs alumni and collaborators Rick Wakeman, Blue Weaver, John Ford and Brian Willoughby, Niel van Deventer captures an extraordinary period of artistic rebirth and sacrifice, culminating in a triumphant final performance before 25,000 fans at Cropredy.
